Author: Experience ( EXP ) Experience
Conquer Online utilizes an experience point system similar to many MMORPGs. Killing monsters increases [experience points] until a player reaches 100%, whereupon the player's character advances to the next level. Characters receive experience for each successful attack made, and some bonus experience is rewarded upon killing a monster. Players can also join teams, and a player will gain bonus experience for the monsters that his teammates kill. A character can also enter the Training Grounds, where he will accumulate a lower rate of experience, but without any player interaction.
The experience curve of Conquer Online makes it tougher for higher-level characters to level as quickly as lower-level characters. When a character is three levels above the monster, the player has the opportunity to gain extra experience when attacking monsters of equal level. Additionally, a married player gets extra experience when leveling with their spouse, and water taoists get double experience once reaching level 70.
Powerleveling
Higher-leveled players are encouraged to powerlevel beginners for the reward of Virtue Points. When a character being powerleveled takes silvers dropped by monsters killed by the powerleveler, the powerleveler also earns a portion of the amount of silvers the low-level character received. Although all players can help others level, only a player above level 70 powerleveling another character at least 20 levels lower than himself can receive Virtue Points (VP) for his efforts. For each level the beginner gains, the team leader who meets the required conditions will receive a set amount of virtue points.
The amount of VP varies according to the level of the beginner — a higher level gives more VP, since it takes more time to achieve the next level. VP is not gained if the person being powerleveled is above level 70. While players may receive leveling experience by being powerleveled, they do not receive any skill or weapon proficiency.
A player may exchange 5,000 virtue points for meteors; which are used to upgrade the level of an item. 15,000 VP may be exchanged for experience points (equivalent to an ExpBall) in the market. The percentage of EXP gained depends on the level of the player's character; less EXP for higher-level characters, more for lower-level characters.
